Here is a sampling of some of the letters and cards we have received over the past 19 years:
"I want to compliment you again for the wonderful party you hosted for your residents and their families. I am sorry that it took me so long to find European Homes. My mother seems very contented and literally glows from all the affection and attention she is given. I think the caretakers you hire are very skilled, efficient and kind." Thelma "This is a really nice home like environment. Elfriede is very generous and I don't know where she finds the staff - they are very loving and caring. The way they treat us is exceptional. It becomes a big extended family here. You become emotionally involved with the other residents." Martin Foley, resident, 2001 "Knowing that my mother was in a clean home with an excellent staff helped to ease the minds of both my brother and I. Every time we entered her home we were thankful for her environment. Both of us being firefighters we have been in care facilities across the county and there are none better." Paul S. Rummler, Los Angeles "Me, my family, relatives and friends have been highly impressed by the service and unique care of the tenants by European Homes. I personally would like to thank them for their help, friendship and care." Elie Ichkhan, Manhattan Beach, 1999 "I have seen many in home type of facilities but no way - European Home is so above the others. This is a very professional, warm, hospitable facility. The caregivers are wonderful and treat the residents like their own family. Elfriede is wonderful with people - she knows how to work with them, speaks with them, sparks them. We need more of these facilities. They are wonderful if done right." Dianne Monsour, daughter of Hilda Emmer, 2001
"My father has flourished at European Home because of the small environment. He was in a retirement home before and got lost in the crowd. The caregivers had no time for him. Here they really talk to my dad, take him on walks - it is the dignity of it, the respect. The homes are like real homes. They are not medicinal or institutional- they are very personal with the matching wallpaper and bedspreads etc. They have parties and invite the families which is important too." Phyllis Coe, 2001 (mother in law Betty was long term resident, and her father is now a resident). "Dear Elfriede... We both commend and thank you for your commitment , sensitivity and generosity of time, energy and effort to the ladies and gentlemen who have been placed in your care. A thank you card doesn't permit us to elaborate... perhaps an hour on a computer would do it. For example, your gifts to the families are more than gifts. They serve to unite us all as a part of a family...yours." Tony and Louise Taylor, Las Vegas "Thank you for having my family and I at your Christmas party. We all had a great time and we were all impressed by all your efforts. Thank you also for all the gifts. The kids were very excited. My family would also like to say thank you for taking care of my grandmother Blanche. We are all very happy with her care." Gherardi family, South Bay. "What a Christmas party! Audrey will never get over receiving so many gifts from you - and all so appropriate and needed. All of your family worked so hard to make the party enjoyable for everyone. Your hand was evident throughout. Thank you also for the things you have done throughout the year to make life easier for people needing more care than they can give themselves. Theirs is a difficult life. You have helped to make it better." Mrs. Jerry Ridgeway, 1996 "I love it at European Homes. I was afraid to give up my home to come here, but after breaking my hip I was too afraid to be alone anymore. Everyone who works here is so nice, the food is great, everything is clean and it is nice to have people my age to talk to. I love to sit out in the garden and feel spoiled when I get my regular manicure and pedicure. Had I known a place like this existed, I would have come years ago." Maria Schmidt, resident, 1995 "The European Homes are very loving. Every time we go over they are the epitome of cleanliness. The staff is very giving and there are lots of personal touches. The parties make it seem like a family where we all get together." Sarkosy family, PV Estates, 2001 "Dear Elfriede - thanks for being there. I don't know what we would have done. Also please thank all the 'girls' for their patience and kindness." Steve and Chris Jones. We cannot thank Elfriede enough for her abundant generosity to my mother, Hilda, and to us as well. We were just overwhelmed by her kindness. We are so grateful that she provides these homes with their wonderful environment for the elderly. It is such a different world from where my father is in that miserable nursing home. I'm so glad my mother does not have to be there too." Ned Mansour, PV Estates,2004 "I am so grateful about the loving care provided, which I no longer can, for my highly respected retired and ill orthopedic surgeon, my husband for many years." Jean Gruber, PV Estates 1998 "We send our thanks for the fine care you have provided for Gertrude for over two years now. Thanks too for the festive and lavish Christmas party you host for all of us." Phyllis and John King, RPV
